Values
There are many value statements, the following are just a sample:-
- We believe that all people with a Learning Disability and/or Mental Health diagnosis shall be allowed the rights entitled to them under the Human Rights Act.
- We believe service users should be included within the decision making process.
- We believe that we achieve more by working in partnership with all service users helping them to develop successful self-esteem and independent skills.
- We believe people with a Learning Disability and/or Mental Health diagnosis, should be allowed to choose their caring arrangements.
Volunteer Roles and Responsibilities
There is a range of roles that we current have which include:-

As a volunteer you are responsible to perform your role as agreed with the Volunteer Co-ordinator. You will be given a role description, which will outline the work and tasks that you will do whilst working on that project.
Roles may be terminated with good reason in order to ensure the highest quality of service to First Initiatives. Where possible an alternative role may be offered which would be better suited to your strengths.
If there are no roles suited to you, we can keep your details on file for a period of up to six months.
The Volunteer Recruitment Process
The Volunteer Co-ordinator will meet informally with you to discuss possible roles, skills and goals, then to complete an Application Form, whereby it will be necessary for Human Resources to obtain two satisfactory references and police check from the Criminal Records Bureau.
On receipt of satisfactory references, CRB you will be invited to start in your role. Having a criminal record will not necessarily prevent you from working with us. This will depend on the nature of the position you have applied for and the circumstances and background of any offences.
Going forward if you interested please contact Alicia to commence your Volunteering Process.
Alternatively please print off the Volunteer Application Form and post it in directly to us.
