Residential Services

First Initiatives runs a residential Unit in Liverpool which caters for people with Learning Disabilities who may challenge services.

We believe that all individuals with a Learning Disability have the potential to develop self-esteem and confidence. We therefore aim to work in partnership with service users, and carers when applicable, helping them to develop successful independent skills, according to their needs and preferences.

In our unit we provide a structured environment according to individual needs, to assist the person with a learning disability to take ownership and direction of their lives, and so maximise their full potential.

Our service users enter into a contract with First Initiatives, which sets out what they can expect from the service in terms of standards. Also, through the planning and review process, the services user becomes a partner in the delivery and outcomes of the service.

This philosophy of involvement, partnership and Person Centred Approaches, is the cornerstone of our service delivery, inline with the principles of Valuing People.
